INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup light corn syrup
- ½ cup water
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 15 drops OOOFlavors Blue Raspberry Candy Flavor
- Blue food coloring (optional)
DIRECTIONS
-
Prepare your work area:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray it lightly with cooking spray. Set aside.
-
Cook the candy base:
- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar has dissolved completely.
-
Heat to hard-ball stage:
- Insert a candy thermometer into the mixture and continue cooking without stirring until it reaches 255°F (hard-ball stage).
-
Add flavor and color:
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the butter, blue raspberry candy flavor, and blue food coloring (if using). Mix until evenly combined.
-
Pour and cool:
- Carefully pour the hot mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and let it cool for a few minutes until it’s safe to handle (but still warm).
-
Pull the taffy:
- Butter your hands (or wear gloves) to prevent sticking. Begin pulling and stretching the taffy repeatedly until it becomes firm, glossy, and lighter in color. This process should take about 15–20 minutes.
-
Shape the taffy:
- Roll the taffy into a long rope and cut it into bite-sized pieces using a buttered knife or scissors.
-
Wrap and store:
- Wrap each piece of taffy in wax paper or plastic wrap to keep it fresh.
Pro Tips:
- Ensure your candy thermometer is accurate for the best results.
- For extra fun, use different food colorings to create a variety of taffy shades!
