Orange Sherbet Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp OOOFlavors Orange Sherbet Ice Cream Flavor Concentrate (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp orange zest (optional, for added flavor)
  • Orange food coloring (optional, for color)

Instructions

  1. Heat the cream and milk:

    • In a medium saucepan, combine heavy cream and milk. Heat over medium heat until the mixture begins to steam, but do not let it boil.
  2. Dissolve the sugar:

    • In a separate bowl, mix together sugar and salt. Gradually add the sugar mixture to the heated cream and milk, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Cool the base:

    • Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
  4. Add flavor and color:

    • Once the mixture has cooled, stir in the Orange Sherbet Ice Cream Flavor Concentrate and orange zest (if using). Add a few drops of orange food coloring for a vibrant hue, if desired.
  5. Chill the base:

    • Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
  6. Churn the ice cream:

    • Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  7. Freeze and set:

    • When the ice cream reaches a soft-serve consistency, transfer it to a lidded container. Freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
  8. Serve and enjoy:

    • Scoop the creamy orange sherbet into bowls or cones and savor the refreshing citrus flavor!

Pro Tips:

  • For a creamier sherbet, use full-fat milk and adjust the sugar to taste.
  • Substitute OOOFlavors Orange Sherbet Flavor Concentrate with other concentrates like lemon, lime, or strawberry for different sherbet flavors.
  • Garnish with fresh orange slices, whipped cream, or a sprinkle of zest for an elevated presentation.
